Brenton J. Allison

Brent Allison is a Texas personal injury and business litigation attorney who has built his career fighting for individuals and companies facing high-stakes disputes. As a founding partner of Gilman & Allison, LLP, Brent represents clients across Houston, Galveston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Corpus Christi, and throughout Texas in serious injury cases and complex business matters.

Licensed to practice law in Texas since 2003, Brent is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His litigation practice includes catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, maritime and offshore accidents, refinery and industrial explosions, trucking and commercial vehicle crashes, partnership disputes, breach of contract claims, and high-value commercial litigation.

Before becoming an attorney, Brent worked at sea as a ship’s officer aboard an oil tanker. That experience gives him firsthand knowledge of the dangers maritime workers face and the operational realities businesses confront in shipping, energy, transportation, and industrial sectors. He understands risk management, regulatory compliance, and how operational failures translate into liability exposure. This practical background allows him to effectively represent both injured workers seeking compensation and Texas businesses navigating complex legal disputes.

Brent earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University and holds a United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer’s License (Third Mate, Unlimited Tonnage; Second Mate, Limited to 3,000 Gross Tons; and Master’s License up to 1,600 Gross Tons). He later earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, with a Certification in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School in 2003. While at Tulane, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal (Volume 27), demonstrating early leadership in maritime and commercial legal scholarship.

Today, Brent leverages that maritime, regulatory, and academic foundation to build strong, strategic cases for his clients. For injured Texans, he aggressively pursues compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term disability. For business clients, he provides decisive representation in contract disputes, partnership breakups, fiduciary duty claims, and complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts across Texas.

Clients choose Brent because he understands both sides of risk: the human cost of serious injury and the operational pressures businesses face. He approaches every matter with preparation, precision, and courtroom readiness, positioning his clients for the strongest possible outcome whether through settlement or trial.

Outside the courtroom, Brent enjoys offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and spending time with his children, whom he considers his greatest accomplishment.
