Douglas T. Gilman

Biography:

Doug Gilman has built his career on hard work, dedication, and a deep understanding of the maritime industry as well as other areas of law. Licensed to practice law in Texas since 2005, Doug is also admitted to practice in the Southern Federal District of Texas.

Before becoming an attorney, Doug gained extensive real-world experience on the docks of the Port of Houston. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University in 1996, he worked as an in-house Port Captain and Stevedore Superintendent for Gulf Stream Marine, Inc., one of the largest break-bulk general cargo stevedores in the Gulf Coast region. This hands-on experience gave Doug unique insight into the operations and challenges of maritime work, which he draws on every day when fighting for his clients.

Doug went on to attend South Texas College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2004. He brings that same relentless drive and depth of industry knowledge to every case at Gilman & Allison, LLP, where he advocates for maritime workers, longshoremen, and injured individuals across Texas and the Gulf Coast.

When Doug isn’t in the courtroom or working on behalf of his clients, you can usually find him spending time with his family or cheering on his beloved Texas A&M Aggies every football season.
