Michael brings unmatched experience and perspective to his clients at Gilman & Allison, LLP. Licensed to practice law throughout Texas and in the Southern Federal District of Texas, Michael’s career is built on decades of hands-on maritime experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University and holds the United States Coast Guard’s highest credential, the Unlimited Master Mariner license.
Before becoming an attorney, Michael worked aboard all types of vessels, from tall ships to VLCCs (“supertankers”), eventually rising to captain. After coming ashore, he served as a Marine Pollution and Safety Advisor and Cargo Superintendent in ports and refineries along the Texas coast, inspecting petrochemical tankers and working with crews from around the world. Michael also worked with a national maritime disaster response firm as a first responder and advisor to maritime interests during major incidents. He continued these roles while earning his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in Houston, further deepening his understanding of the maritime industry and its challenges.
At Gilman & Allison, Michael applies his extensive knowledge to advocate for injured individuals and businesses across the Gulf Coast. Clients trust him not only for his skill and experience but also for his dedication and compassion.
When Michael isn’t in the office or courtroom, he enjoys spending time with his children and family and competing in J Boat regattas throughout the United States, where his love of the water continues.
